“But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”— Matthew 6:6
"What I am asking you to consider is dedicating 2 Chairs in your house for real conversation with God. For your information, this concept doesn’t go back just two hundred years; it goes back thousands of years. It’s creating a place for “holy ground” in your home, apartment, or wherever you’re traveling. Creating a specific place, a strategic one, to go to every day with an expectancy to listen, talk, and understand what God says about your day ahead. But you might be asking, “Why is 2 Chairs so necessary?” Because this is the beginning and the end, the nucleus of the cell, and the source to your solution.”

Special thanks to Daily Meditations reader, Randy Bury, who has become a dear friend to me. I thank God for his encouragement, support, and recommendation to read this book.
Over the next seven days, we will explore the seven steps featured in this book. Step #1: Discover the Secret of the 2 Chairs. Pictured above are my two chairs in my humble Pheasant Manor hotel room in Mott, North Dakota.
2 Chairs focuses on a simple but profound concept passed down to the author by his mother, Martha Beaudine. The core message is that when life presents challenges beyond our control, we should not isolate ourselves or try to solve them entirely on our own.
Instead, we are encouraged to set up two actual chairs every morning—one for ourselves and one for God—to engage in real conversation and active listening. The book is structured around three foundational questions that realign our perspective during a crisis:
Does God know your situation? (Yes)
</li>
Is it too hard for Him to handle? (No)
</li>
Does He have a good plan for you? (Yes)
</li>
Try this active listening activity for seven days and see what happens. God’s generosity comes into view as always knowing your situation, always able to handle it, and always having a good plan for you.
This is the reward that comes into view in today’s Scripture. Create a space with a pair of chairs. Make it Holy Ground to connect with God. Anticipate unfathomable reward. Before sharing this with others. Try it.
Father in Heaven, as I create a space with a pair of chairs each day this week, help me discover the secret of the two chairs. Reward me with a deeper understanding of who you are and how you want to work in my life. Hear my prayer in the name of Jesus. Amen.
